One word to describe it all: BRILLIANT.
I'm going to try to be as objective as I possibly can about this film.
I LOVED it. I loved each and every second of it. The filming itself was done brilliantly, and the way the camera is moved often depicts the chaos that is India well. The colouring, too, was brilliant; bright yellows here and there, and rain when it came to mourning scenes. In short, the composition of the colours are absolutely beautiful.
I also loved the depiction of the India -crowds-. They stay very true to the bustling nature of India's streets, (I haven't -been- there, but I've heard stories.) and it's all very believable. Again, camera angles = awesomely done.
The context of the film itself makes you re-think everything you -think- you knew. To understand that there are people; CHILDREN, like them, who have lived the way they did, and SURVIVED thus far, just makes you believe that life isn't so bad on your end of the world after all. It's a very thought-provoking thing, and it makes one feel bad for complaining about a lack of shoes, when THEY don't even have FOOD.
All in all, this is a movie I would watch again and again; it is sheer awesome. Dev Patel is BRILLIANT.
(Is it bad if I kept imagining him as Zuko the entire time the movie ran? XD)
Ah well; until then!
