"Should we get going?"

She checked her watch. "Baby, it's 3.30. We have an hour and a half and the doctor's office is a ten minutes walk."

"Walk? No way, we're taking a cab."

She looked at him weirdly. He walked everywhere in Manhattan.

"I don't want you to get tired, and what if someone bumps into you on the street? Or a car runs a red light and you get hurt? No way."

She stifled a giggle. "Honey, we're a few months from my due date. I'm planning on walking in the meantime. And working, and running. I'm not sick."

"I know, but..."

"Hey. I'm going to be careful. I want this as much as you do." She laid a hand on his forearm. "Trust me, okay? I'd never do anything to hurt our baby."

"It's not just the baby I worry about. I kinda like you, you know." He grinned and leant closer to kiss her.

"I kinda like you too, you fool." She kissed him softly, and then pecked his cheek. "Hey, how about we get out of here a little bit early and grab a bite on the way? I promise I'll look both ways before crossing the street."

He gave her a jokingly stern look, but then got up and held out his hand. "Sounds good to me. Come on, you two."

-----

"I'm a bit nervous. Is it normal to be nervous?"

"Guess so. I know I am."

They sat down on a couch in the waiting room of the upper-end doctor's office, and he squeezed her hand. She smiled as she saw a very pregnant lady step out of the examination room, and surveyed her swollen abdomen. That was huge. Was she going to have such an enormous belly? Would she get fat? Would he still like her body with all the changes? She gripped his hand tighter, until a nurse in purple scrubs approached them. "Mrs Morrison? Dr. Reid will see you now."

She got up and nodded at Matt's silent question, as they both made their way to the studio on the other side of the hall.

"Good evening, Jayma!" Dr. Reid had been her gynecologist for a few years now, and they had kept in touch even when she had moved her office from LA to New York.

"Hi Jane." She stepped closer for a short hug. "Thank you so much for squeezing me in so late. This is my husband, Matthew. Matt, Dr. Reid."

"Jane. Nice to meet you."

He warmly shook her hand, as they both sat down in front of the desk.

"So, I'm hearing there's a chance you might be pregnant?"

She smiled at Matt, and nodded. "I think so, yes. I took three tests and they're all positive."

Dr. Reid laughed. "Three tests! Well, that's great! I'll have the nurse draw some blood here, and then we can have a look, okay? Matthew, I'm going to ask you to please step outside for a moment, while I do a pelvic exam."

"Sure." He kissed her cheek, and mumbled a "Be right back," as he went back to the waiting room.

-----

"Okay." Jane smiled. "The hCG result should be out in fifteen minutes, and that will confirm us that you are, indeed, expecting. The rest of your exams will be ready in a day. I can email you the results if that's ok with you."

"That'd be great, thanks." She grinned. "I'm so excited! We both are."

The doctor had seen the same scene many times, but she never got tired of the happiness and excitement a pregnancy brought along to a happy couple. "I can imagine. How long have you two been married?"

"About thirteen months. We're really really happy together."

"Then a baby couldn't come to a better place." She got up. "If you want to step over there, I can have a quick look. It'll be painless, I promise."

The pelvic exam went fine, and as she got off the bed, the nurse got back with the first blood result. "Congratulations, mommy."

"Oh my God." She brought her hands to her mouth, her heart racing. "Can I call my husband inside please?"

"Of course."

She walked to the door, and opened it, to find Matt nervously pacing the carpet in front of the room. "Hey, daddy. Wanna come in?"

He stared at her dumbfounded for a second, and then gathered her in his arms. "Confirmed? Are we pregnant?"

She nodded against his chest. "We are."

He held her close and kissed her hair, and together they got back to the office.

"So, do you want to see your little one for the first time?"

She grinned. "Do you have to ask?"

He helped her get back on the examination bed, as the doctor got the echography machine ready.

"This is going to feel a little cold." She spread some blue-ish gel on her abdomen and laid the probe over it. They both held their breath and squinted their eyes, trying to make out something on the grainy grey screen, when suddenly a strong sound filled the room.

Dr. Reid smiled. "You hear that? That's your baby's heartbeat."

They looked at each other, smiling, and he laid his lips on her forehead. "This is the best music I've ever heard."

She nodded against his neck, but then opened an eye, and saw her doctor's face. "Dr. Reid? Jane?" Matt turned around at the sound of her worried voice. "Is there anything wrong?"

Jane looked absorbed in thoughts for a few seconds, that they both spent with bated breaths, but then turned to them with a smile. "Nothing's wrong, don't worry. Listen closer."

They did as they were told, but all they could hear was the fast flutter of the heartbeat. Matt cleared his throat. "Is it supposed to be that... that messy? Shouldn't it have a proper rhythm?"

Dr. Reid nodded. "Yes, and it has. Only, it sounds a bit messy, as you said, because it's not just one heartbeat." She smiled, and turned to the screen. "Ah, here they are. Say hello to your babies."

They looked at each other in disbelief, and then turned to the grey area the doctor was circling with her index finger. "This is an ovular chamber, and here's the second one. Congratulations! You're having fraternal twins!"

Her happy sigh was muffled by his chest, as he hugged her tight, unable to hide his tears. "Oh my God!" He was laughing and crying at the same time, and she kept her eyes glued to the screen as she spoke. "Are they alright?"

"Everything looks great, but we'll need closer follow-up visits than for a singleton pregnancy. Nothing to worry about, just precautions."

"Of course. Oh my goodness, twins!" She laughed and cupped his face in her hands. "We'll never sleep again."

He chuckled, and kissed her lips. "I don't even care. I love you so much."

Dr. Reid smiled and let them have their moment, as she transferred the recorded images on a DVD for them and handed Jayma a tissue to clean her belly from the gel. "From the look of things, I'd say you're about seven weeks along. You're going to start showing pretty soon."

She walked back to her desk and hinted at them to sit back in the chairs. "I'm presuming you're going to be most of your time in Los Angeles, so if that's okay with you, I'll forward your info to our affiliates over there. That way we can keep in touch and check in from time to time. Sounds good?"

She nodded. "Sounds great! God. Excuse me, I'm still a little shocked. In a very good way."

He took her hand and kissed the knuckles. "When are we going to know if they're boys or girls?"

"I'd say in about three months, but you're going to have an ultrasound in between too. They could also be one each, since they're not identical twins."
She wrote something down. "I'm going to prescribe you some prenatal vitamins. Take one every morning for the next six weeks."

She took the prescription, her hand trembling a little. "Of course. Thank you." She cleared her throat, and squeezed her husband's knee for a second. "I was wondering... I can still do my things, right? Like working out and such?"

"Of course. Exercise during pregnancy will help you sleep better, and feel less pregnancy symptoms. If you keep active throughout the next few months, the labor will be easier and you'll bounce back to your body in no time. Most trainers know exactly what exercises to suggest during pregnancy, but I'm going to give you some guidelines. You're gonna have to keep it gentle until you pass the first trimester, of course. Pilates and swimming are your best options for a little while: the goal is to keep it very gentle on your lower abdomen."

Matt nodded. "My dad's a midwife, I'm sure he can give us a few tips too." He looked down at his lap for a second, and his ears turned a bit red. "And what about... our sex life? Is there anything we should avoid?"

She felt her cheeks burning. "We're kind of... very active."

"Just like for exercise in general, avoid very rough activities, but apart from that, there's absolutely no reason to abstain. Women often have a stronger sex drive in the second trimester, and breasts enlargement and increased tenderness are usually very welcomed changes for both partnes."

They exchanged a cheeky smile, no words necessary as he winked at her.

They spent a while longer asking questions and trying to memorize as many facts and data as they could, until Dr. Reid smiled, rummaging through her files. "Here's a little reading material for you. Feel free to call or email me at any moment, And guys... congratulations!"

They thanked the doctor and got out, Jayma clutching the brochures she had been given, Matt holding her free hand tightly. As soon as they were out of the building, he spun her around and framed her to the wall for a long, meaningful kiss.

"Are you alright?" She threw her arms around his shoulders, and pecked his neck.

"I'm just... great." He chuckled. "Twins! Two little girls who look just like you!"

"No way, they are boys and they already have curls in uterus." She giggled. "Or maybe they're one each? Oh my God, this is so exciting!"

He grinned wickedly. "Anyway, this definitely confirms my suspicions. I do have super powerful sperm."

She burst into laughter, and slapped his shoulder. "My God, I hope they're not such dorks as their dad."

"Oh, shut up. You love it."

-----

It was 6pm on the Glee set, and she was relaxing with a mug of tea in her trailer, when she heard a knock on the door.

"Baby? It's me."

"Come on in, it's open." She smiled as he stepped inside and got close for a kiss. "Hey."

"How's my sweetheart?"

"I'm fine." She grazed her belly. "We all are."

He smiled, and crouched down beside her, his hand joining hers. Ten days had passed from their visit to the doctor's office, and, as predicted, Jayma was indeed starting to show a small, barely noticeable bump, that to them was the most beautiful sight they'd ever seen.

"Glad to hear it." He caressed her belly for a few seconds, and then handed her the bag he had been holding. "This is for you."

She looked surprised, and dipped a hand in the bag, to find a book. It was a paperback copy of "What To Expect When You're Expecting".

He smiled sheepishly. "When I was in Atlanta, last year, these books were everywhere, and they gave me one. I read it a bit back then... you'll see some notes and stuff on a few pages, I'm sorry. I can get a new one if you want."

She opened it, and noticed a few underlined sentences on different pages, notes and questions scribbled in his small handwriting on the side.

He flipped through the pages. "Here. You're a little over eight weeks, so they should be about this size." He tickled her belly, and she laughed. "Hey, peanuts! Everything okay in there?"

She giggled, and kept his hand on her stomach, as she went through the book. "You've read most of it already?"

He looked embarassed. "Yeah... not much to do in the downtime, you weren't with me, I figured it might help me with my character... and, you know. For when this would happen." He took her face in his hands. "I've wanted this for so long. Having a family with you... little Jaymas or Matts running around... I can't wait. Seriously."

She hinted at the book. "I can see," and then caressed his cheek. "And having all of this, with you... it's better than my best dreams."

He kissed her. "I love you, Jayma."

"Even when I'm as fat as a whale and you can't hug me fully anymore?"

He laughed. "Especially then."

I need your opinion, guys. Would you like a short story on the pregnancy? Or we've had enough pregnancy stories to last for a lifetime and I should leave this as a 2-chapters story? Let me know. I'm still undecided. :)

Reviews are love, as usually. :)
