It's another warm day in Seattle and, it seems, the goldfinches don't care for the heat. I did not see any today and that hasn't happened in quite some time. It was generally quiet on the bird front, maybe because of the heat and maybe because I went downtown via car rather than walking to catch a bus or to get home after work and so I missed the evening birds. Whatever. Short bird list.
I spent ages in the dressing room at Talbot's again because I've just semi-resigned myself to the fact that I don't belong in Banana Republic clothing. And because I inexplicably fell for a lemon-patterned skirt though I could find nothing to wear with it and, believe me, I tried on pretty much everything they had in the store. I came away with two skirts and two tops, all of which was on sale and there was an extra 15% discount since it's my birthday month. But I don't know what I'm wearing with that skirt and I still don't have a new sun dress, though I am taken with
this one. After that spending spree I met up with
elijah_brown and we went to the
ZigZag Cafe for cocktails. It was packed but we eventually got a table and the nice man there, after telling me they didn't have a cucumber martini as such, and disregarding my substitute request for a last word, decided that what I'd really like was an "Angelus Wirth" (or at least that's what was on the receipt). He told me it contained gin, st. germain, cucumber, mint, and something else. It was, sadly, far too busy for me to grill the bartender about the recipe which is too bad because it really was a fine cocktail--sort of a cross between the two I'd tried to order. And, hell, don't I need an other cocktail that requires an outrageously expensive liquor?
This weekend could be busy: it's the weekend of the
West Seattle Summer Fest and I'm sort of thinking apricot season is going to pass us by if we don't get serious about making jam.
