It's ever so late and I should be getting to sleep since I want to get up early enough to mix up gazpacho before going to work tomorrow morning. The prediction for tomorrow is a high of 92 and, given that I was moved to turn on the heat two days ago, that's going to feel mighty warm. I've biked the last few days but tomorrow, I'm thinking, sounds more like leisurely-stroll-in-a-sundress weather.
Before getting to the birds and books I repeat (if only for my own reference) the news that
Alexfandra has a signing/reading at University Bookstore on the Ave. on September 24th at 7:00 pm for her book,
Immortal Quest. I intend to be there.
Meanwhile, there are
Birds
American goldfinches
house finches
house sparrows
white-crowned sparrows
black-capped chickadees
northern flicker
osprey
peregrine falcon (I think)
robins
bushtits
hummingbird
Bewick's wrens
crows
gulls
possibly a starling (singular)
Book
The Bastard's Tale (page 309, aka finished)
It was a book that never did pick up--I tell myself it might not be representative of the author's normal work--sort of like Josephine Tey's The Daughter of Time but that book was fascinating even if not a standard mystery. TBT just sort of went on, with me going along with it, thinking it would improve. Now, sadly, I'm between books yet again.
