Ups & Downs
Why is it that I either love my work or hate it? It seems things around here always have to be all-good or all-bad for me. I certainly won't complain about the all-good, but a consistent balance would really be nice instead of this work-related roller coaster.
It's great to be seen as helpful and as a reliable resource for teachers.
It sucks to have teachers send you demanding, rude emails expecting you to cater to their every whim.
It's great to have a friendly, amiable boss and team.
It sucks to have a boss who constantly springs things on you at the spur of the moment--and everything is always urgent.
It's great to have a position of responsiblity and autonomy.
It sucks to have THREE positions of responsiblity--and no help.
It's great to work for an organization that doesn't discriminate on the basis of sexual orientation.
It sucks that this same organization still expects me to be totally closeted to students and parents--and wouldn't support me if I came out.
Sigh.
On the upside, Wendy Kopp is going to be on The Colbert Report tonight. I can't wait!
