This week has been so much better than the last couple. It's been great to have reconnected spiritually and have that strength to lean on again. It makes a world of difference, especially when I'm teaching.
Today I took a professional development day and went to Donna to observe at IDEA Academy, a charter school founded by TFA alums. It was great. Not only did I get some really good ideas to "reinvent myself" with, but it was also just very reaffirming to see that yes, other people are doing this. Other people are teaching!
I came home and printed off some handouts and activities to use next week, our last week with "Number the Stars." I've really enjoyed teaching it, but I'm not sure what novel to do for the next six weeks. I had hoped to do a fairy tale unit centered around "Ella Enchanted," (thus having the ability to turn a pre-Christmas reward into a learning opportunity by having them watch the movie and compare) but the library won't be able to order a class set in time, so I'll have to put the idea on hold till next semester. So I'm still searching for what to do next. Suggestions are, of course, welcome. :)
And, on a completely unrelated note....my mom and Mary are coming to visit in TWO WEEKS! I can't wait!
