today was a really good day...
...contrary to my current trend.
usually thursday's are when i have my back-to-back practicums where i go to one elem school and observe a PE class then head over to my regularly assigned elem school to observe in a 5th grade classroom, but today my PE had to be rescheduled. a whole bunch of us had been assigned to go there today, but they were having an assembly of sorts so i actually got to sleep in until 8am!!! it was glorious.
during that time that i'd usually be out in my first practicum assignment, katie and i met up at a coffee shop to work on two of our teaching lessons that we're presenting tomorrow for our health/PE methods class, and we came up with a pretty decent idea, so it should be good.
while we were there though, it started snowing, but it wasn't cold enough to stick, so it made me happy and i wasn't paranoid about sliding around in it as we headed to the 5th grade classroom. it was so amazing today! i love it. during one of their math/problem solving/game times, i got to race a few students with the rubik's game, which is similar to a rubik's cube, but you slide pieces around with only one space open on a grid to maneuver colored pieces around to match up with the colored cubes that are rolled on a separate rubkis' thing and it was fun. then our mentor teacher showed katie and i some incredible lessons that he was planning on doing with his class that integrated like everything that we're supposed to be observing for and he gave us extra handouts and whatnot and it was so cool some of the stuff they were going to do.
after the practicum, i came home and me and my friend, oz--that's what everyone calls him, went to the gym and we ran a mile and did some rowing and LOTS of stretching and finally some weight stuff and i can't recall having so much energy for the rest of the day. after our workout we went and got an orange julius and it was very tasty.
a few hours later, i went to pick up danny for a little dinner date we'd planned and we went out to our usual mexican restaurant...he owed me a dinner but forgot his wallet so it was kind of funny since i ended up paying for both of us. but now he still owes me another dinner, so i might call that favor in next week sometime. but it was so nice just talking with him and hanging out. then we went back to his place to hang out some more since i actually had all my homework done and could enjoy an evening for once, and needless to say i just got home and am extremely exhausted. but since today was so wonderful, i mean seriously, i can't even express it effectively enough, i wanted to jot some of it down, at least for my own benefit because it's been awhile since i've been in such a prolonged good mood.
