Contract Language on Online Communities and Social Networks

When a friend was faced with the dilemma of whether or not to accept her boss's friend request on facebook. While we may maintain that there is past practice of not being friends, mgt will claim that they only learned about facebook last week (which very well may be true). So another friend and I have drafted some model language on the subject:

Online Communities and Social Networks

"No member of management shall invite, friend, tag, poke, or superpoke a member of the bargaining unit in an online community or social network unless the member of the bargaining unit has set up a social networking account specifically for work activities or unless a member of the bargaining unit invites, friends, tags, pokes, or superpokes a member of management in said online community."

"No member of management shall interpret a refusal to accept a friend request as dis (though it may very well be a dis) and get their underwear in a wad and act like a total prick to a member of the bargaining unit.

"No member of management shall cyberstalk any member of the bargaining unit. However, management shall be warned that members of the bargaining unit will google, image google and social network investigate all members of management and then share any embarrassing photos or posts with the rest of the bargaining unit."

"No language in this agreement will in any way imply that a member of management may not invite or befriend a member of the bargaining unit in a non-online social network (i.e. the real world). No member of management shall tag, poke, or superpoke a member of the bargaining unit under any circumstances except in a game of tag, capture the flag, flag football, or poker."
