so to start the protest season off just right Sharpie AKA Brain Conley AKA husband of Eowyn Medic got arrested in Beijing on Tuesday while covering Students for a Free Tibet demonstrations or plans for demonstrations. He is reported to be being held for 10 days. He was arrested with 4 other americans. He managed to text Eo from jail saying "In jail fine" (so very sharpie). So there you have it.
For those who don't know him he is the brain behind Alive In Bahgdad a website that post videos from independent journalists in Iraq. He came out of indymedia. Covered the DNC RNC was one of the main folks at the IMC space in Miami and helped create (and shot much of the footage for) Miami Model. He was also one of my co-arrestees 4 years ago, and western mass to court driving buddy. He and eo got married about a month ago and Eo is now pregnant with their first kid.

Last time i checked he didn't know any chinese.
sigh. this is all mildly upseting. but knowing sharpie he'll be fine he's very good at getting in and out of such scrapes. but it is worry-some none the less.
