I helped out at a
Kids Company sleepover at The British Museum and how fun it was to hang out there after closing time!
When I arrived the museum was the emptiest it could ever witnessed. It felt surreal. Excitement filled the air when 86 kids showed up. They laid their sleeping bags in the Egyptian sculpture hall and took storytelling, dancing and craft activities throughout the night.
I taught the kids how to make Ancient Grecian themed lanterns. They were really well behaved, in awe of the event and location I suppose. My heart melted at their antics. Like how the girls drew lovehearts and flowers instead of Grecian drawings and the boys listening intently to everything I said. They even called me "miss" like I was their teacher!
I cracked up when most of them wore their lanterns as hats, bless 'em.
At midnight, all lanterns were illuminated with LED candles with the hall lights off. The kids loved it and the night was one of the most satisfying experiences I've had in London.
The entrance of the museum at sunset.
Midnight and serene.
One kid only wanted to draw an elephant and dang, he's pretty good.
An unforgettable night!
