Saturday - A Snapshot Of London Life

Mar 20, 2011 03:38

I took photos throughout this day with my phone. It was hectic but memorable one.

Woke up to this amazing sun-shiny day. You can't really see it here but ANY day with clear skies in London is a blessing.

Rushed to Belsize Park to check out a flat. I was twenty five minutes late. It was already a bad morning and then I lost a contact lens on the tube. Not a disposable, but a rigid lens which is supposed to last a year and I only got them two weeks ago. Grrrrr!

The viewing lasted 2 minutes because the flat was awful. "Needing modernisation" was an understatement. The agent must have felt sorry for me as I tripped, misjudging a step (being blind in one eye) and parted with the words: "don't worry about this morning. It will pass."

I visited another agent who advised that the flat I viewed last week was gone. My hopes fell as I wanted to live in the area by summer. (Finding a home is like finding the love of your life. No matter how hard you try, it still comes down to fate!)

Resisted the urge to sulk and scour my bathroom floor for the missing lens. It was a gorgeous day and I needed to salvage it. Sat by a quiet street for a while feeling despondent then suddenly...

A kitty brushes up against my leg. She sits by my side for a minute and saunters off. Maybe she was trying to comfort me.

Took a gamble with my bad luck and practiced some driving. And guess what? Drove from Hampstead to Kentish Town, Camden, Primrose Hill and back. And only stalled three times. But the best part - I was'nt afraid of stalling anymore. Saw cherry blossom trees which lined the streets in full bloom. It was a fun drive.

Went op shopping and bought this satin dress for my birthday dinner tonight. So girly!

Had lunch with a friend at The Horseshoe, a gastropub. Grilled chicken livers on toast with caper sauce. The livers were delicate and sweet. The sauce was rich with a bite, complimenting the livers perfectly. I washed it down with a pint of apple cider.

Tried making a reservation for my birthday dinner at the last minute. Was told that the earliest they can seat us is 9.15pm so 7pm was'nt possible as planned. Of course I should have rang much earlier! Before I had a chance to remember about my lens (which I definitely lost), I rang all my friends with the change of plans.

Cottons in Camden. I wanted to try something different so I choose Caribbean food.

The bar was buzzing and packed. Behind the counter was over 200 types of rum.

The food was flavoursome and spicy. I was in food heaven with jerk chicken sticks, a mixed grill with fried plaintains and chocolate rum cake. And the company was lovely too :)

Cleaning off my dessert. Oops!
