Plotting

Today has been a very productive day in many ways. I've been plotting lots of fun things and even managed to do some real work. I've picked out Allison and Sascha's wedding gifts, Allison's bridal shower gift; I'm thinking about Krystal and Stephanie and Sheila's birthday presents. Krystal and I have planned a "play tourist in DC" date; I hunted down new patio furniture from Ikea; and finally got Mason more heartworm medicine, which I've been putting off for a month now. Go me!

The weather here in lovely central VA is kind of crazy right now. It is pretty cold, highs in the 50s/low 60s and the wind is blowing like crazy. A cold wind! At least it is sunny for now. I have started to take a walk each day at lunchtime and this was pretty nice walking weather. I'm sure that once it starts to get hot out (i.e. 80 or above for me) I won't want to do the walk anymore. But I need to do SOMETHING for now since I have been exceedingly lazy and haven't gone to the gym for quite a while.

A coworker of mine just bought a house in Richmond. A one story that is completely beautiful and updated inside. I am jealous. The house needs no work except for one bathroom, has a finished basement, a den plus three bedrooms. On a quiet street with big old trees all around.  And it's in Richmond. I know it couldn't have cost that much because her fiance either doesn't work or works in restaurants and she works here so I know she doesn't make that much.

Oh well. For now I'll continue to try to make our house prettier. I am excited about buying flowers, but am probably going to put it off for 2 weeks until cash flow looks a little better and the weather evens out. Having some nice patio furniture would probably also help me feel better. I'm not sure why, since I am certainly not a fan of sitting outside in the heat, sweating and getting eaten alive my mosquitos. The house already looks 200% better with the new siding, the portico, the new front door and the storm door. Jason worked hard and got rid of 80% of the big junk pile left over from all of that new siding, portico, and the new bathroom. Things are improving, little by little.

I have a new book: Athenais, The Real Queen of France. I borrowed it from Margo and it has me on a French royalty kick again. This one is about Louix XIV most influential mistress. I already read Antonia Fraser's book about Louis the XIV's love life, but this one if all about just Athenais. Of course I am completely engrossed already and I'm only on chapter 3.

I've also gotten back into my French lessons. I had been avoiding them for the month of March. I don't know why. This morning my usual radio station was reviewing American Idol from last night, which I couldn't care less about, so I opted for the French cd. I was surprised at how much I remembered even though I haven't touched the stuff for a whole month.

One thing that I have to STOP doing is living in the future. My mind is so far ahead of me that I feel like April is already gone. And half of May. This is what happens when you over plan. It is no good! Having scheduled the Paris trip 18 months out probably isn't helping me either. I am looking forward to that so much that the rest of 2009 and the first four months of 2010 don't seem to exist for me.

It is like when you are driving down a street with lots of stop lights that you can see, and if you look ahead to the next stop light you might just run through the one you are at without even noticing.

planning, paris
