That pretty much sums up all my concert experiences in Vancouver to date, lol.
Sam Roberts was amazing! I didn't know how good The Stills were until last night! I really want their cd now. <3 Sam played all my favs, and a bunch from Love At The End Of The World too (I bought it for my b-day, pretty awesome mellow rock. :3). Obvs he would play a lot of that cd since he is touring to promote it, but I was sooo glad he played a ton of older stuff too! A lot of Chemical City for sure. We had to stand for all of Sam's bit since everybody else was and it was near impossible to see over them.
Speaking of such places, the Orpheum! It's definitely meant for plays/operas or larger venues. XD It was massive! And kind of confusing. It reminded me of a mix of the ballroom in Beauty and the Beast, and the one in the Phantom of the Opera where they are all dancing during the masquerade song. That's just the entrance too! It looked very formal and glitzy, so the hippy rock was kind of funny. I still haven't been to GM place for a concert yet (been there for hockey a few times though). I took a few stealth photos of the ceiling so the ushers (yes there were ushers!!) wouldn't notice me, but I guess I really didn't have to worry about photos when the teens in front of us were right out toking up without getting caught. =P
That's another point. I hate crowdssss. Or maybe I just hate all ages events? I will totally sound old saying this but kids these days (XD) just aren't very discrete. I mean, if you want to smoke pot fine, but can't you at least pretend to hide it? They were just passing it along to whoever was around, thus making everyone around them smell like it. Not very pleasant. We were next to a couple of Dads (their kids were one row down and over sitting with friends XD Cute! haha), and they were about ready to smack the kids. They were just obnoxious from start to finish. Screaming during the intermission "I love TECH GUYYYYYYYYYYY". Will apparently got hit in the nuts a few times during their crazy dancing while the show was on, and their falling over from being on whatever else they were on. For me, I kept with the mantra "Music over matter..." XD So it sucked having douches in front of us at first, then by like 9 or so, I was sooo into the zone that nothing could have bothered me, haha .
Y'know, music festivals are the way to go. Or better yet, folkfests are the way to go! The Calgary folkfest is such a magical place. It's so chill, no over-hyped tards, yam fries, sunshine, a river runs through it (it's on a little 'island' formed by a river just cutting it off, lol), awesome craft vendorrrsss...ughghg too cool. Anywho, I should make some popcorn lunch now. <3 Mmmmm cheapasfuck, lol.
