All the world’s a stage and we are merely players
It’s somewhat strange to consider my existence as nothing more than an actor. Any who if considering life in this light I have played a few roles over time.
Since the beginning: *Daughter *Sister
Primary school: *Bestfriend to Gemma *Goody too shoes *A member of the SRC
High school: *Bestfriend to Gemma *Good student *Dancer *Sales Assistant *Girl Friend *Social Butterfly *College Director of Community & Social Justice
After School: *Bestfriend to Gemma *Dancer *Personal Assistant *Receptionist
*Social Butterfly *Uni student
So what has remained consistent? I will always be a daughter and a sister. I just thought of them as controlled variables. My oh my who would have thought I would think back to biology experiments. I can not choose to be a daughter and a sister, I just am. But apart from the biological reasons what makes me my mother’s daughter? I have caused her grief, I have made her laugh, I have made her proud, I have made her disappointed, furious and sad. She has coloured my hair, waxed my eyebrows, supported me, pushed me and made me crazy at times. So what’s the difference you ask to any other relationship? Well that’s when biology comes back into it. She is my mother and I am her daughter.
Student, Employed and Social Butterfly. In many ways these roles define me most and cause me the most grief. They conflict with one another and achieving harmony, satisfaction and happiness with the three can be very difficult. To study and have a social life I need to work. To work and study I need to compromise my social life. But being social and working is what being a student is about. Thank goodness for daily planners!
So what may my future roles be; Girl Friend? Teacher? Year Coordinator? Traveler? Wife? Mother? Grand Mother? Successful? Others? Only time will tell.
