"Did you know..." The Doctor sat back in his chair as Rose and Jack finished off their dessert, the remains of their feast littering the table, "that Earth is the only planet in the universe that has chocolate?"
"You're joking!" Rose gazed at him, stunned, her spoonful of chocolate mousse hovering midway to her mouth. "How can people live without chocolate?"
"Well, I guess it depends on how you define people," Jack joshed.
"Now crispy tubers - one of your favorite snacks..." The Doctor gestured to Rose with a flourish.
"Aka chips, or as Americans call them, French Fries," Jack interrupted.
"Which is strange," The Doctor mused, "because the French call them pommes frites."
"And they're actually Belgian," Rose piped up.
"Anyway," The Doctor gestured wildly to get himself back on track. "Plenty of planets have some sort of tubers cooked until crisp - which I suppose explains why you lot call thin potato slices crisps - and even some sort of beans turned into beverages..."
"Ha! I knew coffee had to be universal!" Rose declared with a smirk.
"But adding beans to the sweet center of a cane-shaped plant and the mammary gland output of bovines to create the unique taste of milk chocolate?" He popped a piece of chocolate from a platter in front of him into his mouth with a delighted grin. "Fantastic!"
