This was written for ladygray99's birthday. She asked me for a gen fic and I just about fell out of my chair. LOL! I guess I'm so used to being asked for porn for birthday stories it never occurred to me she might ask for gen. I was thrilled though. I write more gen than anything so it's clearly something I really enjoy, especially when I can tie it tightly to canon. She asked for the Eppes Family, with a bit of Larry, and a nice family dinner or just hanging around the house being family.

Larry is indeed best used sparingly and I liked the touching offer to clean up so that Alan could be with his sons. He is a good friend, not just to Charlie, but to all of them. I figured I'd split it up and do the aftermath of the meal and the beginnings of the hanging around so I could get that lovely lazy moment after a family has eaten and before they decide to get up and do something else.

Don, having just been released from the hospital, would clearly relish such a moment. I pictured his POV as being that softened slightly hazy yet pleasant lethargy that comes from being drugged up. And yeah, after hospital food? He'd be loving a good familiar home cooked meal.
