HEE!

OMG you have no idea how hard it was NOT to put TONS of this in French and German! /dies/ I had to throttle my poor self back because technically they're speaking French already (and German in one scene) and the implication is the fic is translating for the reader, but man! It was hard! Hardest? Typing "the suburbs" when my fingers so wanted to type les banlieues. (Because those words are not exactly synonyms and banlieue was the word I really wanted!) I forced myself to keep to things like proper names of organizations and streets/locations.

History, huh? Be careful - I might hit you up for help if I decide to write a sequel (or prequel - I really couldn't find much on what Paris in the 1930s was like). Tackling Poland in 1939 or the French resistance is more than my meager US public school education is up for, I'm afraid. ;-)

I'm thrilled to hear that someone was glad I wrote a WWII AU (albeit pre-war, but still) since I struggled with this for so long and felt convinced no one would even read it! Yay for someone caring about history! Thank you!

I'm actually working on a Colby/Charlie WWII AU.
Charlie is a concentration camp prisoner and Colby is an american soldier...I've been reading tons of books about the camps and gay men in the camps.

Oh, wow. The Colby is easy to go for, given his canon past as a soldier, but Charlie in a camp? Wow, I can picture him frail and gaunt yet still possessing his spirit, refusing his let his brain be used for the benefit of his captors, no matter what.

I'm looking forward to that!
