Charlie pressed a wine glass into Don's hand and curled up with him on the dense plush rug in front of the massive stone fireplace.
"It's beautiful - all of it," he murmured, staring into the crackling flames. His voice was subdued, sadness seeping through. "The snow covered trees, the mountains in the distance... Even this cabin..." He shifted to thread gentle fingers through Don's dark hair. "I just wish you could see it."
Don turned in his general direction, dark glasses obscuring sightless bandaged eyes, shrapnel scars marring his handsome face.
"I'm still healing," he soothed. "Maybe next winter..."
