Yesterday was nothing short of magical.
I crawled out of bed at an ungodly hour to meet Cole, Jesse, Madison, and Aaron at the bus station. After a long, sleepy bus ride to Toronto, we went to one of my favourite places in the city- Baldwin Street. It's this incredibly gorgeous street lined with huge trees and tons of cafes and restaurants, all of them with a patio. Even the freaking laundromat on Baldwin has a beautiful patio. We had a really nice long lunch in the leafy corner of a sunny patio, sitting around talking and drinking coffee far too long after we'd finished our meals.
(All morning the excitement had been building... I could barely stand it. It felt like christmas morning right before you go downstairs.)
Giddy, we walked to the subway. Then after a long walk, which included a venture into a men's washroom with Jesse and Cole, we got to the ferry. As we approached the island, I couldn't help but whisper, They are on the island right now. I had goosebumps not just from the cold!
We sat through bands... ran away when Thrice played. Haha, what a crappy band. Uhg. I really liked Wolfmother, they had amazing energy, and the singer was very amusing.
Time passed.
Then...
Then........
THE STROKES!
When they finally came onstage, Julian last, I just about cried, it was SO overwhelming. I screamed my head off. They opened with Is This It?
INCREDIBLE, BREATHTAKING, FABULOUS, WONDERFUL WONDERFUL WONDERFUL set. The short hour was everything I imagined it would be, and we were close to the front.
Oh my god, it was just so good, you guys. I can't even tell you.
We left after The Strokes. Waiting for the ferry in the dark, the city across the water was lit up, and just too beautiful for words when in combination with the dreamy after effects of having been so near my favourite band. I felt like I was dreaming, I was so happy.
After a few hours spent in uncomfortable bus station seats, bus seats, and a sleepy but happy walk home, I finally collapsed into my bed.
What a fucking day.
