I was apparently the sixth person at the Urgent Care clinic who came in with a cut from Thanksgiving food prep, and they told me I was the most exciting patient of the day!
I made a big gouge in the last knuckle of my right hand's middle finger, fairly deep and nearly all the way through. Luckily I don't seem to have gotten the tendon, because they seemed happy with the motion tests they had me do. But I got three shots to numb up my finger before the stitches, which made me nearly faint (because I am a wimp that way), so they got to figure out how the bed worked to elevate my feet and bring me a cool compress and all that nice stuff. Then I got six stitches and a splint to keep me from moving the finger very much for a whole week. Fun fun. They say there's a chance the flap won't connect back and need to be removed, but that it looked fairly likely to heal. So... sigh. Hard to type, but I can knit and weave, so that's OK.
