Yesterday the power cord for my MacBook Pro broke. This is the second one in about a year. It was getting a bit loose and Wm pulled at it and that was once too often. So we hit the Apple store. No, they don't have one. Nor do any of the other Apple stores in the Seattle area. Nor do any of the non-Apple major mac dealerships. And the online Apple store says "ships in 2-3 weeks."

Apparently they are redesigning it a little bit and had all the stores return their stock of the old style, but haven't sent out the new style yet. They're making the "brick" part smaller. No word if they are making the other end of the connector any sturdier. Reviews on the Apple website suggest that I am far from alone in my problems with the power cord. At least this one didn't start to melt like the last one, nor have I seen the sparks that other people have reported. Meanwhile, my laptop is down to reserve battery power.

I've been a fairly loyal Apple customer for over 20 years, but I am pretty damn pissed off at them right now.

In better news, we went across the mall and got glittery nail polish. And since I was laptop-less, I wove up some handspun silk on a small adjustable frame loom I bought last year and it's so pretty. I'm now starting to covet an actual loom, though. Sigh.
