As far as William is concerned, The Sorcerer's Apprentice segment from Disney's Fantasia is pretty much the pinnacle of Western Civilization.

I must say I prefer it to Teletubbies.

When Kieran was that age, he watched the whole damn thing like a total stoner. I was very impressed!! (And somewhat surprised that his first word wasn't "Duuuuuude!")

That was the first movie my mother tried taking me to the theater for, and apparently we had to leave because the hippos scared the crap out of me.

I've been to see it in the theater nearly every time it was out in theaters in my lifetime (well, probably not the 1969 release). We missed Fantasia 2000 in theaters because I was very pregnant and when we finally remembered to try to see it at the local Imax place, there weren't any more tickets for the rest of the run. I remember taking my cousins to one of the ones in the 80s and being miffed that they didn't think it was as cool as I did. Seeing in 1990 with a whole gaggle of music history grad students was fun, though.
