Not getting stuff done very quickly, but getting some stuff done...
Spinning: Managed to finish plying up the last of the stuff from the August
Spunky Fiber Club shipment, just in time for the September stuff to arrive. I ended up with about 240 yards of worsted weight 2-ply that should self-stripe. The South African Fine wool is nice and soft, a bit springy. The roving wanted to felt, a tiny bit in the dyeing and shipping process, a little more when I was carrying it around on a wrist distaff. So if I ever encounter it again, I'll be sure to handle it with care. If I had any clue where I put the camera I'd take a photo. I've started spinning up some tussah silk I bought from
huaman, who sells beautiful things in
her eBay store. All this on spindles; haven't used the wheel since the baby came though now that I think about it, it might be possible to use the wheel while nursing, spindles don't do so well with the baby on my lap.
Knitting: I knit up a
toy turtle which still needs felting. Managed to get the pattern without the kit and used some nice turtle-colored Shetland. Am working on a super-basic top-down hat in a bright pink silk-cashmere blend that was going to be for my mom until in an unrelated conversation she said that she can't wear cashmere because it itches the way wool does. I'll have to have her try the yarn, because I can't imagine anyone finding it itchy. Otherwise it might end up for me. Also today I bought a pattern for
fish mittens that are quite cleverly designed. Now to see if I have fishy-colored sock yarn hanging about. Or fishy fiber I could spin to the correct weight...
