kathrynt and I spent some time today at a huge fiber stash and equipment estate sale. To get an idea of the scope, the woman owned seven spinning wheels, I saw at least half a dozen "real" looms (some floor looms and table looms) and a similar number of frame looms (tapestry, triangle, etc.). Yarn and fleece stashes and library were of similar scale.
I spent around $60 and ended up with an
adjustable frame loom, a hackle (for blending fiber), one cone of rayon yarn, a couple of ounces of fiber (with the baby it was very difficult to dig through the bins of fiber) and what was possibly the best bargain of the entire event: a copy of Alice Starmore's
Charts for Colour Knitting, in pristine condition and signed by the author... for $7.00.
I saw the name "Starmore" in a pile and knew I was going to buy it before even pulling the book out to see WHAT Starmore it was; I had no idea just how much this particular book goes for. Clearly I need to be sure that someone knows what that and the Fair Isle book could fetch at auction if I were to shuffle off early from this mortal coil.
