yarn dilemma

I've got various bits of handspun stuff that I personally don't like that much, but don't really feel it's good enough to actually sell. I'm never going to use it, but the idea of throwing it away? Not so much. There's commercial yarn I'm probably never going to use, too, which could use a new home ( Read more... )

Does bagging-and-freezing destroy wool moths the way it does other insect infestations? I've successfully "cured" feathers of bird-lice, flour of weevils and any number of other buggy problems that way.

And then you could throw a stash exchange. You know, in your copious free-time. (-:

Yeah, I have a in-then-out-then-in-the-freezer quarantine rotation going for anything that showed signs of being *near* moths. It takes a couple days in, a couple out, a couple in. It kills off anythign that hatched, and the cold-then-warm encourages any existing eggs to hatch, then re-cold again to kill 'em off.

Well, then, if you choose to give it away just tell the recipients, "Here's the deal, we've had moths, I've given this the freezer treatment and I'm pretty sure it's clean - but you may want to freeze it again to be sure." Voila!

Black Sheep Gathering next weekend. I'm assuming you and kathrynt won't be making it down this year, my dear enablers, but I'll try to do you both proud.

Q keeps muttering about finding a way to go, but I think she's fooling herself. Me, yeah, I'll be home.

I am likely to go, although I'm likelier to go if I can either persuade local/on-the-way/from-the-way people to go with me or meet people there. If I do, I will try to find you in the mob again. (I was the long-braided one with the two of them and various others last year.)

I'm going down on Saturday with my friend Barbara, who accompanied me last year. If you decide to go (do!) and would like to swap cell phone numbers, email me at kightp at peak dot org.

I really should stop being a Luddite one of these days, shouldn't I? I haven't a cellphone. I'll email you anyway, so we've got the relevant email addresses squared away in the relevant email programs, and once I figure out what I'm doing maybe we can see if we can meet at a defined time, or I'll find a payphone or something.
