I don't talk about singies so much lately. Not sure why. But tonight's rehearsal was exceptional.
The bad: I came very close to losing it and interrupting rehearsal to scream QUIT STOMPING YOUR FEET YOU ARE NOT WITH THE BEAT NO WONDER YOU CAN'T SING ON THE BEAT IF YOU CAN'T EVEN TAP YOUR DAMN FOOT ON THE BEAT at part of the soprano section. I managed to restrain myself and instead go to my section leader to ask her to make people stop. Which seems to have worked.
The good: I think we're close to getting it. Which is good because the performance is week after next. Certainly all the pieces are in place, and we're working on details instead of broad strokes. Whew. A couple of weeks ago I was a little worried.
The BEST OF ALL: Our alto Vicki who was stationed in Anaconda in Iraq is home again and stopped by to see us at the start of rehearsal. She looked really, really great. So much better than the grey and haggard look she had for the last few months before she shipped out. I just hope she doesn't get shipped out for another tour.
