The Captain's quarters were closer to Sickbay than the Observation Deck, so it took Bones less time to make it there. He stepped inside, wearing his casual evening clothing, surprising the staff that was used to seeing him in his uniform, though most were familiar with the scowl.
"Has anyone seen my mother?"
When the answer seemed to be no, Bones headed outside and waited for her, pacing up and down the hall.
Em smiled when she saw him pacing in front of the doors. "Lenny!" she cried out before falling into him for a hug. "Y'know, I coulda just asked one of your ensigns for a hangover prevention cure." She let him go and stood up, only swaying a bit. "G'back to bed, I c'n take care'f myself."
"Of all the- if there is something wrong with you, I want you to call me, you hear me?" he told her seriously, leading her inside sickbay and over to one of the private areas in the back.
A nurse approached, asked if he needed any help. "I've got this, just a headache," he told her with a polite nod. Turning back to his mother, Bones sighed and began scanning her. "So, who is this James? You mean the one who is bonded to Spock and the other me?"
She held up her fingers to attempt recounting who James was in comparison to the other James T. Kirks she had encountered. "He's not your James and not the other you's Jim..." Em waved at the instrument. "Lenny, I d'n'need an exam. Just need to clear the brandy in m'system."
The other one... Bones had heard about him, the one who was not captain yet. It seemed almost impossible, a universe where Jim Kirk was not captain of the Enterprise.
Yet this one had gotten his mother drunk on brandy and left her to wander the ship. That didn't sound like ANY Jim Kirk that he knew... "I need to see how much you've had so I can give you the right amount," he told her in a matter-of-fact tone.
"Okay," he told her, finishing his scan. Her blood alcohol level was high, but not dangerous. Pulling out a hypospray, he filled it with the appropriate medication and held it up to her.
"This is gonna sting a little," he said, tilting her head slightly, cradling her face in one large hand.
She gave him a smile. "M'used to it. Grandma was deadly with a hypospray after all. Ev'n if she's just a nurse." Em sighed and rested against his hand. "Thank you, baby."
"Nurses have good aim too, Momma," Bones told her, putting his arm around her, getting her to her feet. The alcohol would metabolize quickly, Bones hoped, as walked her out of Sickbay.
A few more steps and they were in front of her door.
"You know, you can talk to me 'bout anything. You don't need to go out and get drunk with people who don't take care of you."
As the haze of alcohol lifted, Em placed a kiss on his cheek. "Don't worry about me, baby, I am just fine." she assured him. "And I told him that I could make it on my own so don't you start. Sleep well, honey. I'll see you tomorrow, most likely." She gave him a hug and another reassuring smile before walking into her room.
