checking in

I realize I've been on the quiet side lately. Mostly this has to do with my work schedule, which has been eating my life whole on a daily basis. Last week I was up until 3 am every single night, and while this week I've cut it back to about 12:30/1-ish, I'm still in need of a week or two of catch-up sleep.

Friday I'm off to Seattle for a weekend conference. I've never been, and I'm sad to realize that I probably won't see much of it in the 48 hours or so that I'll be there. I'm hoping I'll be able to do a bit of looking around Sunday morning before I have to leave to come home. Fortunately I should be going back at the start of next summer, and that trip will give me more free time.

Other than that, not much going on. My parents are still searching for a contractor and architect to fix their house; insurance won't pay out until they've seen and approved the new plans. I suspect that approval is going to be a hang up, and I'm not thrilled, given that the weather won't hold out much longer and I'd really like my parents to have a complete roof and insulation before snow starts to fly.

I keep staring at myself in the mirror and reminding myself that, even when I'm busy, I should take time out to get a hair cut. And that a diet really is on the agenda. Busy days=too much junk food and on-the-fly eating, and it's starting to show. Really have to do something about that before holiday food starts to appear. Eek!

Well, that's about it. Must get back to the grind!
