I can't recall if he is the A or G, but I do know that this wonderful man is very sad that he has to close A&G Antiques, the shop he's been running with his son in N.D.G. on Sherbrooke Street (just a few doors down from the Maz bar). I dicovered his delightful shop a few years ago while escaping a summer downpour. I remember stumbling through the door and hearing a rumbly greek-accented voice greeting me from behind a dusty jewelry display case. He stood to introduce himself, and I very happily accepted his invitation to browse. His shop is dimly lit, narrow, and filled with treasure.
I don't recall if I bought anything that day (I certainly have since), but I do remember wandering back to his desk, and watching him write on a looseleaf page in a black binder filled with what looked to be well over 300 pages covered in his spidery blue letters. When asked what he was writing he responded, "It's for my grandson. I want him to know what it was like for me, growing up in _(small village in Greece)_, and the hardships we endured during the war."
He hasn't finished the book yet, and he plans on continuing it now that the shop is closing. They'll be around til the end of the month, and are liquidating most items. If you're in the area, please do drop by.
