The more I work at Valley River Inn, the more I realize it's not what I want to be doing with my life.
It's not a bad place to work - if you don't mind being a little understaffed, pressured into getting more done than you should feasibly be able to do with the means they've given you (ten dozen cupcakes with only two cupcake tins? Done in two hours? Really?), or the spasmodic hours - but it's definitely a high-stress job. Physically AND emotionally.

I got my first professional massage on Thursday, speaking of physical stress. I've got a pinched nerve along the vertebrae between my shoulders, and something else that's making it difficult to stretch certain muscles near my neck. Turning left is a pain, which doesn't really work out in a busy kitchen.
So, my chiropractor prescribed me some insurance-covered massage work.
Good God, go try it. Best hour of my life.

Oh, right, I was talking about work.
I guess I'm just ready to move on. It's not a bad place, it's just not for me.
I'd like to know more than two days ahead of the week if I can make plans or not, for one. For another, I foolishly want to work somewhere people actually take my opinion into consideration. VRI is the only place I've ever heard of that seems to AVOID hiring people who put a current employee down as a reference, no matter what kind of relevant experience and excellent recommendations they may have. =/
