Man, this term is a trip.
Not as in trippy or psychedelic or out of this world, but like a really long, tiring, time-consuming (but fun!) road trip.

I'm realizing how far I've come in the past seven months, how much I've learned about baking, living a hundred miles from the town I've lived in my whole life, and myself. The transition from home to Coos Bay was a lot easier than I expected, but it's still had its turns (and I'd bet there's still more to go).
I've made some really awesome things.

Like a cake hat. White chocolate mint pound cake with a raspberry filling. The details are all rolled fondant.

Pie pops.

I've learned how to make and plate desserts for 30+ guests all currently eating dinner.

This one is a coffee rum chocolate mousse with a coffee whipped cream and chocolate shavings. I think this is one of my favorites.

Anyway, that's school. Socially, things have been a little wonky. My current team partner for this massive bakery project (we have to essentially design a bakery from the ground up, including colors, designs, items, costing sheets, employees, and an entire list of equipment and ingredients needed) is a girl I'm sort of friends with. She's been having some.. um.. emotional issues, but what's basically happening is I have my half of the project done and she hasn't done anything (complete with lame excuses like "my computer is a mac and won't work with any other printer than mine which is broken," which completely nullifies the fact that I have a mac as well as a printer), is totally negative and in a pissy mood all day all of the time, and then complains that I won't help her with the projects she takes on in her own time (such as making things for her parents) and calls "part of our restaurant project" and tries to finish while the rest of the class is trying to get classwork done. Last night she left a very passive-aggressive Facebook status about it and I decided to stop biting my tongue and called her out. Luckily, so did another one of our friends, so I don't feel so harsh.
I'm just a little bummed it couldn't go smoother.

Mm. In other news, Aaron lives here now. Remember that kid I used to talk to all the time way back in middle school and high school? We met on like Neopets (lol)? We've stayed in touch, and he finally decided to ditch Killeen, Tx and come up here. The plan was to live out of his car, but I've been letting him stay in my room with me for about three weeks. It's fun. I finally have someone to feed all my extra bakery goods to. Ha.

So I've been keeping myself busy, I suppose. And it's been fun. The work is demanding in a worthwhile way, the friends I've made are awesome and I'm really happy I decided to commit to this school. So now I've got to go learn how to make fortune cookies (I'm going to school voluntarily on a WEEKEND, oh my!), and hopefully I'll start keeping tabs on myself more frequently for those very few of you out there who still read my Livejournal.

Haha. See you guys!
(PS, I finally learned how to hula hoop!)
