So there are advantages to this whole "packing up everything you own and moving it, thus forcing you to go through it all" thing. I'm doing my best to go through stuff as I pack it, and I've gotten rid of a lot, and found some things I forgot about, including a $30 giftcard to payless! I *think* my mom gave me this a while back for something or other, but there's really no telling how long I've had it. I'm almost positive it moved up here with me from Arkansas. I checked it online to make sure I hadn't spent it or anything already, and nope! I found thirty dollars, I found thirty doll-ars! Too bad Payless's shoes rip my feet up, but hey, I can buy socks and stuff there.
Anyway, while I'm here, BPAL
Starting the Anniversary Circle today!
Mechanical Phoenix: A mechanical construct: illustrating strong work ethic, determination, creativity, and innovation.
Copper gears, brass cogs, fused wiring, scorched iron, and motor oil.
In bottle: Generic men’s aftershave.
On me: MUCH better. It smells like metal without getting that awful metal taste like when you hold coins for too long, and there’s a sweetness underneath it all that keeps it from being too much. As it settles, it has sort of a powderiness to it that reminds me of nitrogen, like the smell right before it rains. Adventurers and ship captains would be yummy in this!
Blood Phoenix: Blood: expressing passion, will, and a sensual aesthetic.
Dragon's blood resin, helichrysum, burgundy wine grape, red musk, opoponax, red poppy, myrrh, carnation, tonka, almond, mimosa, jonquil, and neroli.
In bottle: Yes yes and more yes. It’s like everything I loved from Blood Lotus and the Snake Pit got together and made yummy scented babies. Which would be creepy, but not the point. It’s berries and wine and a hint of orange from the neroli, and it’s so very, very edible, without being a foody scent.
On me: Oooh, the almond comes out a little without taking over. The other spicey things sort of toss the sweeter bits away, but it stays delicious. And really, every sniff gives me a slightly different experience, which makes sense for a Phoenix. One minute the wines and berries are up front like they were in the bottle, the next it’s almond and spice. Love love love this. Maybe I need a bottle. . .or really not, 'cause I'm broke, and I'm pretty sure the lab won't take the Payless giftcard.
