Today is the last day of my three day weekend. Boo. Where did it go? What did I do? Not enough, that's for damn sure. Things are still a little crazy here at the house, what with plumbers and cleaners and painters and the quakers, bakers, and candelstick makers coming by all the freaking time, but the landlords assure me that everything will be done soon and it will be worth it. I believe them, but it's exhausting at times.
In knitting news, I had promised pictures a while back, and today feels like a good day for it.
First off, here's a pic of everything I've been working on, looking at, or thinking about lately (yarn related, obviously). That's not really everything, because there's books involved and things I'm thinking that don't have any physical form yet, but you know.
Now, the break down. The black and white ball? Those are my fishnet stockings. *wicked grin* Yes, I'm knitting fishnets, and it makes me feel all delightfully subversive to be taking a craft that a lot of people still think only makes sweaters and scarves and certainly nothing sexy and turning it into lingerie. Of course, I think I'm going to have to start over, because my gauge was off and I decided to ignore it and I'm pretty sure that unless I start over with bigger needles, these will only fit a child, and that's not ok.
Next up we have this little swatch of yellow. Could it be? Might I be swatching for the mountains of Jayne hats I have to make? Yup, and I'm actually almost ready to start the first one. I just have to do some measuring and calculating and thinking and stuff, but once I sit down to do it, none of that will take me very long. So at some point,
frelghra really will have to come visit so I can take pictures of him,
noisyhooligan,
lynxreign, and
telepresence wearing the hats. *glee* But
frelghra's definitly getting his last. He knows why. *glare*
Oh this? This is my shrug. The one I've been working on since January? Yup, that one. I finally picked it back up, and I'm making decent progress on it. Up until the yarn tangles and I spend an entire day untangling it. Stupid yarn.
Ok, nobody tell, because these are a secret. Well, the two pink ones are, anyway. These are the lace scarves I was talking about not too long ago. The short blue one is mine, the long blue one is for my manager, and the two pink ones are for my mom and
noisyhooligan's mom for Mother's Day. Yes, I know it already passed and we just had Father's Day, what's your point? Speaking of Father's Day, I think next year I'm going to knit my dad a tie. More as a joke than anything else, because 1) I have never gotten him a tie for Father's Day, although it is the stereotypical gift and 2) I do not like the look of any knitted tie I've seen, so this would just be about the irony. But I might make it in his school colors, so he can freak out his students. :)
And this, this is one of my favorites. Probably because it's still just a skein and a dream. I might feel differently once I actually start working with it. It's hand dyed sock yarn from
Lucy. It's red and black, which is practically the Emily colorway at this point. I have two skeins of it, and I've been agonizing over what to do with it. I love it, so it should be something I'll use a lot, I don't really want it for a scarf, or socks, although damn, this stuff feels so good the socks would be amazing, but still, I want it for something more visible. So I finally picked up this
book. I have her other knitting books, and had been wanting this one for a while. Seriously, this stuff is awesome. The book's a little cheesy, but damn. Cat Bordhi has thoughts. She's coming up with techniques and designs that at first just seem cool, and then you think about it some more and realize what she's actually doing, and it's almost scary. So it's safe to say that I am in love and will be making many moebii garments in the future. Specifically, I have chosen a lacy moebius wrap for the sock yarn. Hurray! I know what to do with it now! And I need a cape and the boots and the bags and the . . .the only only problem is that I don't have long enough circulars for anything but maybe some of the hats. I need the 60" Addi's in a bad way, but it looks like I can get them on ebay for around eight bucks, which is certainly cheaper than the 25-30 they usually go for. Rock on. Moebius will be commencing soonish!
In non-knitting news, my dad went back into the hospital (on Father's Day, no less) for some food poisoning or something. I wasn't clear on the details. Also, they are for sure doing the surgery after all, possibly sometime this week. Scary, but good, I think.
Today
noisyhooligan and I are about to leave to go exploring a bit and look for food, we'll see how that goes. Have a good day!
