Been a while since I did one of these...

Today's comic is called Family Man. In it you can meet Luther Levy, of Dylan Meconis' other comic, Bite Me, about vampires in the French Revolution. It is exactly as geeky as it sounds, and I will do a more in-depth recommendation of it another time.

Family Man is sort of a prequel to the events of Bite Me (which, incidentally, is completed already) except, where Bite Me is history on crack cocaine, Family Man is history with a classy Sherlock Holmes-ish pipe and a glass of port. Or something equally fancy. You do not have to have read either comic for the other to make sense, and they are so different I sometimes forget that one has anything to do with the other except that they share an artist/writer. It is also set in Germany, rather than France. And there are no vampires. Yet.

It's just so freaking pretty and my inner (outer) history dork loves it. By turns funny and utterly heartbreaking, it's still got a long ways to go. If you read Bite Me, you'll have some idea where it's headed, but you might want to save the surprise if you can. The ending should be pretty incredible, if the beginning is anything to go by.
