accidental transport
this past weekend i saw pretty much the entire rhodopi mountains, and can now say it's the most beautiful region of bulgaria. we stayed the night in the village of Орехово(Orehovo), the last point on the map before mountain expanse. by car, we traveled nearly to the greek border near Яагодина(Yagodina) through pomporovo and chepelare to pick up items for dinner and made a nice meal by wood-burning stove in kostadin's father's house. and i'm now very able to scold a 3 year old child in bulgarian. we picked lilacs and walked along the river and ate strawberries with tea and also stopped at a monastery outside of Plovdiv on the way back to kazanluk, just in time for me to call my mom for her day. i spotted several different bird species as well, something i've missed out on a bit here. may is the month of the holiday here and i feel like we're celebrating something every other day, most recently the 170th anniversary of my school, for which there was a football match, a history conference, a concert, and a faculty dinner. all enjoyable. placebo is coming to sofia, although unfortunately coinciding with my mid-service training. time is flying
