Well, Happy 2005 everyone. I hope you all had a nice Christmas and a great New Year. Mine was good, but crazy too.We went to midnight mass on Christmas eve and had an uneventful dinner. Then the fun started. We all got up on Christmas morning, my brother opened one present from Santa and we were starting to take apart our stockings when my dad noticed that something smelled funny. We looked over to the kitchen and saw flames almost up to the cieling and smoke billowing out of the room and up to high ceiling in the music room. My mom, trying to make hot chocolate, had turned on the wrong burner and set a plastic tray on fire. Plastic creates a self sustaining fire...not good. We all jumped up and jumped into action. I covered my face and ran upstairs to close all the bedroom doors and open all the windows. My mom and my uncle ran around opening downstairs windows and doors. My dad grabbed the fire extinguisher and blasted the begesses out of the fire (he went a little overboard, but hey, the flames were really big). Fortunately the only damage was to the tray because we caught the fire in time. Maybe the stove too but we're still not sure about that. Needless to say, we spent the next two hours cleaning the house (there was ash and fire extinguisher stuff EVERYWHERE) in the freezing cold house (it was about 30 degrees out and all the windows were open) before we could get back to christmas. It was an adventure but it definately could have been much worse. Oh, and I got some cool stuff for Christmas...a pink purse, a pink sweater, some really comfy furry clogs and an iPod (my favorite gift). Plus, my presents to my family were a success.
New Years was good too. I was in Maine. We went skiing at Sunday River for four days. Christmas eve, though was really really foggy. We all went outside the condo to the mountain to watch the fireworks, but it was so foggy we couldn't even see them! We would hear the sound and then the sky would turn the color of the firework but we couldn't see anything else. It was kind of scary actually, like being in a war. Then we went inside and watched the ball drop. It was pretty uneventful. But I did see some good movies, Ella Enchanted (you were right Katie, good but predictable), Clueless (a classic), the Day after Tomorrow (which was really good but then it felt like that when we were skiing), Witness (oooh Harrison Ford) and Spiderman 2 (not as good as the original, and are they really going to make a third?).
Well, the grades are finally in and it's not too bad. Two A- and three B+. I was hoping for three A's but whatever. At least my GPA is a 3.52. Not too shabby.
Tonight I'm going to Courtney's house to go in the hottub with my friends, then tomorrow....work. Bummer.
P.S. Working on the Paris thing. I'm going to email Christiene. Hopefully I don't butcher my french too badly.
