Blue Suede Shoes

I had the most lovely morning!
Today I had plans with my friend Melissa, but when she cancelled our breakfast, that had been for 8:30 A.M at 7:45 A.M., I was already up and dressed, nearly ready to go - and fully awake. So, I called my usual round of girls, asking if they wanted to come for breakfast with me. Well really, that early in the morning, it was two people and my roommate, Raphaela, who was up but heading to the gym for a work out.
I had a good sleep last night, even after being out late rollarblading (which was very much fun, though not as fun as blading in the street), and I was ready for something.
So, I did something a little out of the ordinary, something I have never done before.
I went out to breakfast by myself. And it was splendid!
I talked to my mom on the phone on my drive to the restaurant and then once there, ordered my favourite English Breakfast tea, and then proceeded to read Anne of the Island until my food, Eggs Benedict with French toast arrived. I truly do not like pancakes that are made in restaurants, even IHOP as they are made from dry old mixes, so I always request French toast instead. It always seems to be good anywhere! :)
So I ate, and dreamed to my heart's content, happy to simply be by myself in a crowd of hungry strangers. It was so relaxing and so calming.
When I was finished my meal, I sat and drank my tea, perfectly fixed with honey and milk and read more of Anne of the Island.
Upon finishing the chapter, I found the most inspiring passage:

"After Davey had gone to bed Anne wandered down to Victoria Island and sat there alone, curtained with fine-spun , moonlit gloom, while the water laughed around her in a duet of brook and wind. Anne had always loved that brook. (starting here) Many a dream had she spun over the sparkling waters in days gone by. She forgot love-lorn youths, and the cayenne speeches of malicious neighbours and all of the problems of her girlish existence. In imagination she sailed over storied seas that wash the distance shores of "faerie lands forlorn," where lost Atlantis and Elysium lie, with the evening star for pilot, to the land of Heart's Desire. And she was far richer in those dreams than in realities; for things seen pass away, but the things that are unseen are eternal."

~Anne of the Island, Chapter 1 final paragraph

This was very inspiring to read, and I had to read it several times to let it's loveliness sink into my soul. I suppose in that moment, I flew to the faerie lands and to the land of Heart's Desire, and it still really has not returned to earth.
I think perhaps those moments are the most special - where it's something that only you understand, brought upon by flights of innocent fancy.
I love the line, "And she was far richer in those dreams than in realities; for things seen pass away, but the things that are unseen are eternal."
Very perfect.

After my lovely flight of fancy, I paid my bill respectably and headed over to the mall where I was intent on getting myself a warm winter coat. I've found it especially hard to find girl's winter coats that I like - they're all covered in the yucky faux fur that seems to be so fashionable these days. Real fur coats are one thing - but this disgusting fake stuff on every collar, of every type of fabric is very absurd.
Not only that, but girl's coats (and clothing in general) costs more than guy's coats (and clothes), so they're very cheaply made, and quite thin for far more than what it's worth. So I ended up in a guy's clothing store, trying on boarding-style jackets and bought a very warm one, that looks very cute on me, no different than a girl's one for only $60.
Excited with my purchase, I stepped next door into Payless shoes, to take a little peek. I've been looking for several pairs of shoes for awhile - and they had what I was looking for - and for the right price too.
I bought a pair of simple, classic black heeled shoes, that look very 40's era - just like I wanted. I also bought a pair of blue suede heels, which are very cute and surprisingly quite comfortable - perfect for a warm fall day, or for the upcoming spring.
And I finally found a pair of boots -- hooker boots, as some people prefer to call them, though not me - - a pair of tall, dress boots - not leather, but very comfortable, and quite stretchy. I have a difficulty fitting tall boots over my calves - and so these fit very well.
The style is rather Italian leather boot -esque - though there is no way it is leather, nor from Italy.
I am very impressed with them - they will look very stylish with jeans or a skirt this winter, for which I'm glad. I've now managed to knock another couple things off my "desperately in need of," list, and I am truly starting to feel more human again!
:)
I've had such a fun past two days...*sigh*...I truly love my friends. They're so wonderful.
And now...to end this...have a lovely, dreamy day, surrounded by warm fuzzy feelings. I know I will :)
