I'm putting my foot down and, money be damned, we are going to Chicago this summer! James is already looking into when he can take a week off from work, and I've looked at airfare. It won't be cheap, but I'm sick of putting off life because "we can't afford it," especially when there are great folks like my mom practically throwing money at me to try and get me to visit. Tentatively looking at sometime in the first half of June. So close! I'm getting excited, but I'm also already freaking out about the question of what to do with Ginger. Taking her with us is out of the question, I'm pretty sure.
We've boarded her before, but only for a night or two at a time. I've been told she cries constantly, and I don't blame her. She doesn't play well with others, and hates being cooped up. On the other hand, we could try getting some sort of house/pet sitter so we could leave her at home, but I'm not sure we really know anyone here well enough to trust them with such a task (much less, well enough to impose such a request on them). We've left her alone only overnight, for maybe 30 hours total.
So I guess I'm looking for input from my cat-owned friends. What would you do? What have you done in the past? Again, I'm talking about approximately a week away here, not just a few nights.
Ugh. Nothing is easy!
