So yeah, money's tight and I still can't find a job. So what did we do today? We got new cellphones!
James went into the US Cellular branch the other day to make some changes to our plan, and since our contract is almost over, he was told that they've got a "buy one phone get the second for $49.99" sale going on. He decided he wanted to get a Motorola smartphone, and I considered getting one too. We've got unlimited text messaging now (only $20/month for our whole "family" which includes James' two buddies in California who do A LOT more texting than actual calls), and I liked the fact that the smartphone has a full QWERTY keyboard, which is all the better for that unlimited texting. But in the end I felt like it was too much phone for me. James is getting internet service on his (so no need to find a wifi hotspot), so there's no reason we need two phones with internet. Plus they had an LG phone with full slide-out keyboard, which feels much more like "me." Anyway, on to the linkage!
Mine:
LG UX260 BlackThe image gallery has a photo with the slider open. Rest assured that in person it doesn't really look like it was made by Fisher Price. I was totally worried about it, looking at phones online before going to the store. But the blue is darker and it all just looks sleeker and more yummy up close.
His:
MOTO Q 9c LicoriceIt's pretty sexy, and I couldn't BELIEVE how small these smartphone things are. The Blackberrys (or is it Blackberries?) are even smaller! Crazy.
His was $200 and mine was, of course, $50. Plus we have mail-in rebates that should amount to $150 in Visa prepaid debit cards. Not too shabby, eh?
I will miss using my pretty red RAZR but it was time to upgrade to a phone that hasn't been dropped in orange juice (or at least, not yet).
