hm. this is what i'm thinking about writing my speech for tomorrow on. i just read that 43% of students nationwide enroll in some form of sat prep.
sat prep is such a waste of time and money. all most courses do is give you diag tests that are readily available at the local bookstore. and the rare tips you get for sat success (at least in princeton review) are pneumonic devices that are harder and more time-consuming to learn than it would be to just learn some vocab or math shortcuts. how can a student remember to determine POOD (Personal Order Of Difficulty), then PITA (Plug In The Answers), then use POE (Process Of Elimination), all the while watching out for those "Joe Bloggs" answers? it's impossible! and then there's always that one kid in the class who slows everybody down because he knows nothing. or if you're doing tutoring (as my parents also made me do), you might get stuck with a tutor (like mine) who's more interested in being your friend than helping you do well on the sat.
ok now i'm ready to start this speech! and i updated! i'd say that's killing two geese with one stone. i didn't say killing two birds with one stone because i like some kinds of birds so i don't say that. but i hate geese. eww my aunt has these geese on her farm and one time when i was little they surrounded me and wouldn't stop honking. wow. my add is finally taking its toll. either that or i just really don't want to start this speech. maybe a bit of both?
<3 to you all, em
