they've been planning this since birth...
and now they've set themselves to my garden.
legions upon legions of them...
it's the mid-summer insect invasion.
aphids, hornworm, sunflower moths, little green wriggly worms, BIG green wriggly worms.. and LOCUSTS! for fuck's sake... the locusts are eating my coneflowers and black eyed susans!

thank goodness I was able to hire a few toads, shannon hayes and a mantis.
Shannon has taken up the job of squooshing tomato hornworms for me, since I haven't got the stomach for it.
Two days ago, she squooshed (squashed, squiiiiished and splatted) one and it shot worm guts all over her youngest daughter, Annie.
yeesh... dirty business, this war.

I've been super busy lately, doing whatever I want to.
I made pesto the other night, along with a fresh salad from my garden, and irish sodabread with rosemary and parmesean.
It was all super tasty (except the lettuce, which had bolted and was bitter)...
I'll give anyone who wants it the recipe because man, that bread was awesomely easy and tasty.

I've also been planning my biggest weaving achievement yet.
It's an early american design draft based on an old irish draft.

We're driving up to sterling to get ourselves some ducks today... three hens and a drake.
We've been discussing names for them...
Geek alert... I have to giggle because the first thing that comes to mind when I think three hens and a drake is Min, Aviendha, Elayne and Rand... I've been reading and re reading a lot lately. Yeesh. I'll post photos I'm sure. They're fawn and white Indian Runner Ducks... so they're going to be totally ridiculous looking :-D
Something like this... ->

anybody a Babe fan? the duck in Babe was an indian runner duck...

orthanc is about to pounce on cleo... should i explain to him what a death wish that is?
