two things. i realised whilst walking to the computers, that flip flops are so-called because of the annoying noise they make when you walk. however, they are also good shoes to wear if you anticipate stress, and (like me) find removing your socks and shoes an effective way to relieve stress. because you have no socks to remove in the first place, and they can just be slipped on and off, they is no messing round with shoe laces (a sure fire way to get stressed). i am printing off job appilcation forms and details and such like and was getting very concerned as to why they werent coming out the printer, before realising i had sent them to some other printer that could be anywhere on campus. but, fortunately, without anything on my feet, i was able to keep relatively calm.
when i was little, and i got really cross, i used to sit on the floor and take my shoes and socks off. i am not sure what i intened to prove by doing so, but it is a habit that has obviously stuck with me on some level.
although i also hate having things (like plastic stars, or bits of paper) stuck to the soles of my feet, so its best to only remove socks and shoes in rleatively clean, tidy areas.
also, i am wondering if i should just stop wearing lace up shoes as they seem to a considerable source of bother to me. because if i only tie them normally, them come undone all the time, and i have to keep re-tying them, only i cant always be bothered, so then complete strangers comment on the fact that my laces are undone, and then look at me expectantly, wanting me to tie them. the alternative is that i tie them in double knots, which i find really difficult to undo, and so consequently get really distressed because my feet get trapped inside them. in my first year i used to have to occasionally sleep with my boots on because i had tied the laces in double knots, and after a night out i was just to tired to wrestle with the knots before falling asleep...
i also went to todmorden this weekend for a party, and it was lovely, and i had to catch an early train back to go to work at oxfam on the sunday, and i got to the train station, and i nearly ran back to their house because i didnt want to go to work, i wanted to go for a walk in the countryside because the air smelled really fresh and springlike and i didnt want to spend an hour on a trian and then four hours in a shop, but i realised that i had responsibilities that had to be faced up to. so i went back to leeds and it wasnt great.
