I sat out on the porch with my ice tea and watched the birds flock and sail away on the breeze. The sun was setting and so the sky was changing from that brilliant blue of daytime into the pale blue of evening with the rim of pink and deepest reds, some clouds added to the splash of color, the golds, reds, oranges...some purple on the farthest horizon. There's a chill in the breeze that puts me in mind of October Country, my home away from home...and the scent of wood smoke from a fire some where brings me to thoughts of a future where there's snow and hot chocolate and friends and laughter and funny spills from the snowboards.... And I can just scent the death of leaves as well...making me fall in love with the thought of running at the lake again. I await the colors, the costums, the feel of the air, the world at this time. I am alive in it. I awaken to it. It is fresh and revives me now.
Fall has come, and I welcome it.
