what sort of fuckery is this...

Good deeds, truly good deeds, are anonymous faceless things. When you do good you are invisible, your face blurred and lost among the background static of life. .. sure you get a 'thanks' sometimes or people will nod toward you, but that soon dies away..the recognition is silent. Good acts and deeds make you the shadow on the wall... Being the quite wheel, the good worker, the helping hand in the world is to become faceless and nameless...to blend.
To be truly good, to do good things 'well' and successfully, you will not be noticed. To be good is to fade out.

But God save you if you even so much as slightly muck up.

You do good deeds and those who know are limited, mess up and those who know are limitless.

I say this becuase I do a lot of good in my job, I am a shadow to the people there. When I help a very old and disabled man out of his seat when he can't get up, or when I return some little kid to his parents after he's been missing for hours, or even when I find that rat that stole your keys and return those keys complete with a repentant note from the perp I get a thank you and they're gone.

No one asks your name or number when you do good. But give them a little attitude BACK after they've called you everything they could think of - including creating new and exciting forms of insult, they don't hesitate for a "What's your name. WHat's Your Badge Number. I demand your Badge number. Who's your supervisor." - there's no puncutuation error here...people don't ask these questions...trust me.

I'm shocked that people aren't more grateful for the goods in the world. I had one woman look at me like I grew a third head when I thanked her for checking on something. She told me it was her job. I said that I appreciated it all the same and that she was doing a very good job of it - especially on the customer service side - ... she was genuinely shocked. ... I don't wait in line there any more...

People have forgotten that we need to be able to rely on each other. And that is pathetic.

Just a thought. Nothing more. I don't mind being faceless and background static. I just wish that more people would try it out sometime.
