nothing else will do, i gotta have you...

When I was putting Christopher to bed tonight he asked me to sing him a song. I couldn't think of any good kid ones off the top of my head and the first one that came to mind was Gotta Have You by the Weepies (which I am still obsessed with and listen to at least 5 times a day).

It's just a simple, pretty song, and he lay quietly while I was singing the verse. Then I came to the chorus, which starts:
"No amount of coffee, no amount of cryin', no amount of whiskey, no amount of wine".

I decided that based off the walrus-eggman experience of the other day, teaching this three-year-old lyrics involving the word "whiskey" was probably not the best plan. So I ad-libbed,
"...no amount of cryin', no amount of milk, no amount of wine..." (I figured wine was okay) "...nothing else will do, I gotta have you"-

and he interrupted, "NO amount of coffee, NO amount of milk, NO amount of water, NO amount of orange juice!"
"Uh... you're right!"

So for the rest of the song, when it came to the chorus, I sang "No amount of coffee, no amount of milk, no amount of water, no amount of juice, no, no, no, no, no, nothing else will do, I gotta have you..."

He seemed to like it and when Hannah woke up crying from the storm he taught it to her too.

Then when I was putting him to bed a SECOND time (post-storm), we sang it one more time and at the end after we sang "...I gotta have you, I gotta have you" he sat straight up, looked at me, pointed to himself, and said "ME?!!"

I said, "yup, YOU!"

He lay back down and looked at the ceiling contemplatively and then decided... "I gotta have MOMMY."
