While in Iceland I got some
fantastic felt slippers [PDF link]. The company is actually Danish, but you do what you can. My last two pairs of slippers wore out before their time, so I'm hoping that this pair, though pricey, will be more durable. They're charcoal, have rubber soles, and make me feel smug as I walk around the house. :)
It's also the time of year when knitwear starts coming out of drawers. Mine barely fits in my drawers as it is, but even so I've been eying up things to add to my mother's knitting queue.
A woman on my Icelandic course had knit herself the
Afmælispeysa by Védís Jónsdóttir, in a variant of the rainbowy version at top centre. Very nice - traditional with a twist.
And then somehow while digging around I came across this amazing
Octopus sweater. Look at those tentacles! This would blend in less well in Reykjavik but I have a feeling it would garner some compliments instead. Flott.
