Mar 29, 2008 17:57

As you will have noticed, I write about the X-Files quite a bit, and I've been doing it for a while now. It seems to me that an index of essays would be a useful thing to have.

I will admit I partly did it in hopes it would be useful to you. Also I thought it was a good idea...

This is great. I don't think I have even read all of these. Or maybe I have; my brain is such a sieve nowadays.

I don't think you've read all of them either. I'm on an attention high at the moment, so I figured I might as well add to it by making people read my year-old commentaries too! ;)

I hope you don't mind that I started lurking at your journal. I really enjoy reading your essays, especially your "Is Scully a Bitch" entry. I think that is a great essay and it saddens me that people would think of her in such a 1 dimensional way. Yes she has bitchy moments just like Mulder has pretty insensitive and rude moments from time to time but neither of these traits define the characters.

Scully was always one of my favorite female characters and that is saying a lot because there are very few I think are so well rounded and well written. She has faults along with her strengths but that always made her feel very real to me.

Not at all! I love lurkers. I love people who comment even more. :)

Scully wouldn't be Scully without her faults. I agree that they're what makes her feel like such a real person.

hi--found you via a link on the TWOP boards, and my heart leapt, as i'm in the process of proposing an article about gender, power, and sci-fi. your stuff is excellent. thanks for thinking through some of these things. i may want to cite one of these at some point, but that's a bunch of months off, so for now i'll just say thank you. and i'll probably friend you, just to keep watch on your brilliance.

Hi there! I'm really glad that you've found my posts interesting. If you haven't found it already, you might also want to look at my index of other X-Files meta.

I'm not writing as much about the X-Files at the moment, but that'll probably change when the movie comes out. Please do feel free to friend or cite me, or to get in touch if you want to chat more about the issues. Your article sounds really interesting.
