Title: Avoiding the Truth
Pairing: Arthur/Ariadne
Rated: PG
Summary: Ariadne asks Arthur why he kissed her.
One kiss. That’s all it took. One kiss to drive me crazy! After the job everyone settled in Los Angeles - Cobb with his family, Eames living large in the center in Hollywood, Yusuf of course using his money to buy anything he could get his hands on, who knew where Saito went and finally Arthur. Arthur as it turns out owns a luxurious place right across town from mine.
I being a at modest but wanting to blow some of my money bought a beautiful loft. None of us knew what it would be like after the inception project but as it turns out, everyone was happy. We still do the occasional job but nothing to risky. The only reason we did take some jobs was so we could see each other. Some how we had formed a connection that could not be broken and being apart made us or at least me restless.
They all brought something different into my life something different, each of which I needed like a person needs air, especially Arthur. Arthur…cared for me or so it seemed. I need to figure out what is going on between is, otherwise I’ll burst.
That’s why tomorrow I’m going to ask him why. A simple question why did he kiss me in the hotel lobby.

Eames and Yusuf sat at a table in the middle of the abandoned warehouse we had acquired in L.A. playing some ridiculous card game that even I couldn’t understand. Cobb had taken his kids to the park which left me and Arthur sitting in the lounge area.
He was scribbling furiously into his small notebook while reading through some files that were strewn over the table in front of us. I don’t know how it happened, I guess from thinking about it so much but either way I kind of just blurted it out.
“Why’d you do it?” Immediately I wish I could slap my hand over my mouth and take it back. Now probably wasn’t the best time.
Arthur looked up startled at my question “What?”
“Why did you do it?” I repeated slowly this time, and probably not as loud.
“What are you talking about?” He asked.
“Kiss me. Why did you kiss me.” I said. My hands were shaking so bad I had to clench them around the arm rests of my chair.
He cleared his throat before answering. “I needed to somehow distract the projections. Obviously it didn’t work, but I had to try something.”
“Wow.” I sighed
“What?” He asked again
“For someone who’s job is to fool people, you really are a rotten liar. If you needed to distract the projections you wouldn’t have to kiss me. That would bring more attention to us.” I looked down at my hands. “I wish you hadn’t done it.”
“Really? And why is that?” He asked me. He wouldn’t meet my eye maybe because he felt guilty for leading me on? Or perhaps because my words hurt him?
“Because…then you wouldn’t have hurt me.”
“Hurt you?! I had no intention to hurt you.” Arthur explained calmly, but still something was off in his voice. “Like I said before I needed to distract them it didn’t work but still, it was worth a shot.”
“Yeah, right.” I sighed again. “I still don’t believe you, but fine.” I got up and put on my jacket getting ready to leave my bag was in hand and I was not five feet from the door when I felt a hand around my wrist turning me around.
“You’re right,” Arthur said. “I’m a rotten liar…when it comes to you.” Before I could speak a word his mouth descended on mine. My arms snaked around his neck and into his hair while his gripped my waist effectively pushing me up against the wall.
Before long we were interrupted but a very amused Yusuf and Eames when Eames yelled “It’s about damn time!” along with Yusuf's oh so pleasant wolf whistle.
