HELP??!!
Hi all, yesterday D and I spent all day attached at the hip with our computers trying to figure out where to go for his spring break. For the first time since college, he has one and given that he played lacrosse in college he was never able to go anywhere, so this is big for him! I have plenty of vacation time, so we're planning on living it up. Our break is from March 17th-March 26th...and we want to go somewhere WARM and relatively cheap becuase our plan is to splurge on a trip to Europe (Paris & Prague) in May to visit my BM Amanda who lives over there.
The places we've come up with are: Miami, Puerto Rico or the Dominican Republic.
I think we can make any of these affordable, but I would love any opinions as to which place and where to stay. Given we've never been to any of these places, we are so clueless -- especially in Miami as I have no idea which area is nice. As far as what's important to us, we'd like it to have a great beach, a town to explore and the hotel needs to be well kept and clean (and preferably somewhat romantic)...
Oh and one other quick question -- is the Dominican Republic safe? I've heard it can be dangerous and that the resorts have to staff themselves with serious security and there is still quite a bit of robbery due to the abject poverty outside of the resorts.
If you have any other suggestions for places in the Caribbean or thereabouts, please feel free to volunteer those up too! We aren't tied down to these locations at all.
