Bye Dad

Today is the 2nd anniversary of my dad's death...i'm doing okay. I feel strange b/c I'm not sad but I feel like I'm supposed to be and yet I feel like he wouldn't want me to be. I just miss him...i don't want to depress everybody too much, but go and give your Dad/Mom a big hug today because you never know....

In other news, things have been going great at the Health Dept. I got my own cubicle today :) and on Monday when I go again they'll give me a password so I can access their internet. :) I started my first 'proyecto' today. Basically I have to go through old documents that haven't been translated in 10/15 years and see if the Spanish translation still matches up with the English translation...check for grammatical errors, if they both send the desired message, etc. etc. So yeah, things are coming along just fine. I also went and saw the Food Administrator's class in Spanish with the Mexicans on Wednesday so I could give my opinion on how the class was, if it made sense, etc. and it feels good to be able to help. I helped my boss translate one document into Spanish and today I saw another printed draft and he asked me to look it over. I noticed a few things, but the biggest thing that struck me was that there wasn't a phone number to call on the form to ask questions and my boss said I had made an interesting point and that he would look into getting it on there. :) Also when I originally translated it into Spanish, my boss was also trying to find out what level I was on. He said, 'basically, I think the only big word on here that would give you problems is how to say 'baby teeth'' and I said, 'oh...that's 'dientes de leche'' and he was pretty surprised that I knew that. Well, anyways, I think he sees a lot of potential and I can't wait to go back on Monday.

School's still school...stressful as ever...but when you think about how fast the semester has gone, we have really nothing left until Christmas. Once we get past Thanksgiving we're pretty much done...and then I'll have entire days to devote to my Health Dept project. Fun...well, that's all for now. Cuidense chicos!
